We are happy to announce this past summer's Art Expo was a success. With venues in Riverview, Apollo Beach and Ruskin. The proceeds of $503.00 will go to the Firehouse Cultural Center.
Michael Parker and the community painters have finished the mural project. They spent many Saturday afternoons throughout the summer painting. It is a great mural, painted with lots of affection for our " Best Little Town " !! If you haven't seen it yet be sure to check it out. The mural is directly across the street from Granny's Rest. on U.S.41 in Ruskin. It is on the north side of the building next to the vacant gas station. Michael is laying plans for the next community project.
The Big Draw Studio was very productive over the summer months. Three classes for children were taught by Brenda Eastep, Margit Redlawsk and Tim Delgado. Many donations have been made to the Studio from various individuals and organizations which include; sign easels, foam core board, two computer desks, six tables, fifty chairs, file cabinets, a piano, computer with monitor and a projector and screen. Thank you one and all !!
We are getting ready for the next round of children's classes to be taught during the month of October. They will be offered on Weds. and Thurs. afternoons. These will be in conjunction with other communities Big Draw events. Such as The Tampa Museum of Art hosting a day of Big Draw events on Saturday Oct. 8th. The Firehouse Cultural Center has planned two events for the weekend of Oct. 14th and 15th. They are in need of volunteers to help with set up and with parking.
The next General Meeting will be a Pot Luck " Show & Tell ". We invite all members and the children [and families] who will be participating in the drawing classes to join together for dinner and an evening of art. We encourage you to bring a work of art or something handmade to display for the evening. We have easels for paintings and plenty of room for 3-D art. It will take place at the Big Draw Studio on Friday, Oct. 21st at 6:30 pm. Hope to see you there !
