The Council was established in 2004, and has supported a variety of programs and events. The major events have been the Art Frolics, a Plein Aire Art Festival, Arts Expo, Artist receptions in partnership with the SouthShore Regional Library
and as of 2008
The Big Draw!
The Council has also sponsored community mural projects on buildings in Ruskin, Florida. We encourage you to learn more about the mural projects by visiting the murals and reading about them.
The Council collaborates with several other programs and organizations, including the Ruskin Community Development Foundation (RCDF), Camp Bayou, The Ruskin Historical Center, The John Crawford Studio at the SouthShore Regional Library, The Pelican Players Theater Group and other regional art organizations.

MISSION STATEMENT
The SouthShore Arts Council has been formed to promote and nurture the practice
of the arts in southern Hillsborough County. The council will support and encourage and promote,
to the greatest degree possible, activities in the visual arts, music, theater, dance, film and literature in
this region. Educational activities in the arts will be supported and encouraged, and the council will strive
to expand learning opportunities in the arts for people of all ages.
